2019 Graduate Student Award

The Friends of the University of Alberta Society is proud to write a big cheque to fund the Friends of the University Graduate Award. This award has a total value up to $10,000 over two years. It is awarded to a full-time graduate student based on academic achievement and outstanding community service as demonstrated through research and/or involvement in community engagement and/or volunteer activities. Accepting this cheque from the University of Alberta are: Tracy Raivio (Associate Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies & Research),  Ahsan Ahmad (GSA Senator) and Kathy Fitzgerald (Office of Advancement). Presenting the cheque from the Friends of the University of Alberta are: Kate Freeman, Allen Snart, Brent McDonough and Luca Vanzella.

Friends of the University of Alberta Society Graduate Award

The Friends of the University of Alberta Society are proud to announce that they have created a new Graduate Student Prize valued at $10,000. On January 31, 2018, the Friends president Kate Freeman presented the first cheque to the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research representative Dr. Bryan Hogeveen.

Two awards of $5000 to be awarded annually to a full-time student entering the first year of any graduate degree at the University of Alberta. Based on academic achievement and outstanding community service as demonstrated through research and/or involvement in community engagement and/or volunteer activities. Renewable for a second year contingent upon maintaining satisfactory academic standing. Award is credited directly towards fees. Eligible students should contact their home department for information on the application process for this award.
