It it great to read the positive impact USchool has on the students – in their own words! Here is a small sample:
A Message from the two of the teachers: John A. McDougall is located in the city centre of Edmonton and is considered as one of the highest needs schools in the Edmonton Public School Board. We applied for an opportunity for U School and were fortunate enough to have been accepted to the inquiry school with a focus of Identity: A Journey Through Self Discovery. It was an incredible experience to be part of USchool! Our students connected with university students and staff, experienced new opportunities and responded critically in their journals. In our classroom, there are many students in the class who are considered emergent, new to Canada or haven’t had a chance to consider a future in postsecondary education. U School gave these students a chance to see and experience what possibilities could be in store for them. Both of us know that it will be an experience that they will carry in their memories for along time to come. Thank you for your support in the program and your help in creating these memories. With gratitude, Veronica (classroom teacher) & Melissa (Music Teacher)
We feel the love (and appreciate it!)
We are happy to help USchool and we hope one day these students will attend the University of Alberta. Thank you for your kind words and artwork. Have a great summer.
And Thank you to the volunteers for the Friends of the University of Alberta that make this donation possible! (this could be you!)
In January 2026, CBC Live program: Radio Active with Jessica Ng, Min Dhariwal featured USchool.
